Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy [RSD / CRPS]
Based in Manchester, Brian Barr Solicitors act for Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) sufferers throughout England and Wales.
Also known as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), RSD is caused by an injury to the sympathetic nerves resulting in severe pain. For many people, the condition can be catastrophic, permanent and disabling. There is no known cure, although it is said that about 50% of patients can get better spontaneously.
Sufferers will generally experience pain that is worse than would be expected from such an injury. Many patients will describe a severe burning pain even though the part of the body that has been injured feels cold. There may be change in the temperature of the hand or foot and sensitivity even to light touch. Frequently there will be swelling and a change in skin colour in the affected area.
Brian Barr are Solicitors used to dealing with RSD sufferers, particularly where RSD has been caused by an injury like a car accident. They also appreciate how debilitating the condition can be and therefore will help on claims for total permanent disability under critical illness policies or accident protection policies.
