Sarah Jones, a fibromyalgia sufferer, has achieved a payout in excess of £150,000 under her mortgage protection policy with the assistance of Brian Barr Solicitors. This result is especially significant given her insurers’ utter skepticism towards her claim.
Sarah was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and had been unable to work since March 2008. She made a claim under the Total and Permanent Disability section of a Mortgage Protection Policy. However, from the outset, her insurer (a well-known household name) was dismissive and skeptical of her claim. In fact when Sarah initially requested a claim form the insurer refused to send her one.
When it became clear that Sarah was getting nowhere with the insurer she contacted Brian Barr Solicitors. We took up the fight and after a great deal of wrangling and correspondence (including a threat to issue Court proceedings if the claim was not admitted), the insurer capitulated and admitted the claim in full. Sarah received a payout of £152,840.16.

They are often treated with skepticism and cynicism and face an uphill struggle. These sorts of claims require careful handling.
