Permanent health insurance policies 'should have liberal terms'

Accident and Injury Claims news
3rd February 2010
People choosing permanent health insurance should pay close attention to the criteria for making a successful claim, a commentator has said.

Jessica Haynes, a writer for the consumer website ecomparison, said that most plans contain stipulations about what the insured party is capable of managing during a prolonged illness.

She said that people should seek out permanent health insurance policies that have the most liberal terms, adding: "This will provide you with a better chance of receiving benefits if you cannot work for a period of time, but are still somewhat mobile and able to perform a few basic tasks."

In addition, Ms Haynes said that people should ensure their coverage will provide a level of income that will keep their household going and advised insurance buyers to select a provider with a reputation for honesty, integrity, and quick processing of claims.

According to the Guardian, a recent study by Alan Lakey, an expert at Highclere Financial Services in Hertfordshire, revealed huge variations in the policies sold by some of the UK's biggest insurers including Axa, Bupa and Aviva.
